TUITION

I have been involved in art tuition with diverse groups of people over the last 30 years in the UK and New Zealand. Tuition in more recent years has been concentrated in the Auckland and Coromandel region with workshops and demonstrations in Auckland, Howick, Pakuranga, Coromandel, Franklin and Whitianga. Tuition workshops have been undertaken at my home studio in Howick over a period of weeks or as ‘one day workshops’ at local art venues and are designed to accommodate beginners or more competent artist. The focus of tuition can vary from becoming comfortable with the application of a range of art materials to undertaking accomplished paintings. I was selected to undertake week long 'plein air’ demonstrations at the ‘Americas Cup’ village in the Auckland Viaduct Harbour in March 2000 as Team New Zealand competed with Prada on the Hauraki Gulf.

In the late 1980s I was directly involved setting up an ‘arts & craft’ workshop inside Dartmoor Prison undertaking art guidence to prisoners wishing to expand their artistic knowledge and skills. This creative opportunity to people in more secure environs was again undertaken with interested adolescents and teenagers in New Zealand inside secure youth facilities. I've also engaged with young people less well placed to discover their own rewarding journey of art at sea under sail and on land at unique Marae settings from East Cape to Northland.

Contact me regarding private tuition or group workshops. I work predominately with oil paints and can competently guide students wishing to work with mediums such as watercolour and acrylic paints to crayons & pencil sketching.
